The suspects are pious, but the crime is profane. The first teaser for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery establishes a powerful contrast between its devout characters and the sacrilegious murder that brings them all under suspicion.
Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is tasked with navigating this world of contradictions, solving the “impossible” murder of a priest (Josh Brolin) in a church. The teaser suggests a story that will explore the hypocrisy that can hide behind a facade of faith, where piety is the perfect cover for a profane act.
The cast of potentially pious killers includes Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, and Mila Kunis, all of whom must project an air of innocence while hiding potential guilt. Blanc, as an outsider, is the only one who can see through the performance of holiness to the profane truth beneath.
The film has already premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The public can judge the pious from the profane when Wake Up Dead Man opens in select theaters on November 26th, with a Netflix release on December 12th.
